Ok this may be a typical question: Best sound card choice ?
WIN XP Pro SP2 AMD Barton 3200+ with 2gigs of ram will be my platform.
I need at least 4in\4out (1/4 inch) some kind of Digital IO. and Midi.
PCI or USB 2.0 or Firewire <-doesnt really matter I want to ability to upgrade when and if it's needed.
I would like to use Pro Tools LE 7.1 or Cubase, not sure as to which just yet.
Motu product ?
PreSonus product ?
M-Audio's Delta 66 ?
M-Box 2 <----I am a tad confused on this. Can I use my current Creative Soundblaster Audigy Platnium, or do I need a compatible sound card to go with the M-Box ?

Your suggestions....
Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Mbox doesn't touch your sound card.  you use it with your USB port then you plug your head phones or speakers into the Mbox.   as far as soundcards go,  what are you going to be doing with your recording?  Like are you recording full bands or what are you looking to do with it?

No full bands. Just vocals, bass guitar and keyboards via midi and audio. Drums will be sampled or I will be using a drum machine. So something with a good pre-amp for vocals would be nice. I can always get a stand alone pre-amp as well. I was pretty sure on the M-Box but thanks for making the clear that helps.

Go with the mbox 2 pro, this is the perfect product for you, 4 analogue i/o, firewire, midi i/o, digital i/o, and you can use pro tools le 7. You have to use a digidesign product to use pro tools le, no other sound card will work with it.

Yeah I agree, Since you are going to record just a few things, Mbox2 is the way to go.
