I was just thinking about how much I spend on Podcasts and Music etc on iTunes and I thought about maybe getting something like Limewire to save some money. I don't know why but I just can't decide if it's wrong or not?! How do we feel about this?

Well, at the end of the day getting music from Limewire is cheating the artists out of $$. Do I feel super bad about that? Well, no - there are plenty of worse things you could be doing... but as a musician it doesn't sit well however.

What you should consider is subscription music. I have a subscription to Urge - pay a regular amount each month and you can download as much music as you want. Better than Limewire in my opinion because there is no hit and miss - the quality of the tracks is great, all the latest stuff is there, it downloads fast and it is legal (ie: the artists still get paid). Booyah!

Dave.

I heavily disagree with illeagal downloading, not because it's illeagal, but because you're taking advantage of someone's time and effort and skill. And not repaying them for that. If you truly love music and want it to continue illeagal downloading is not the way to go. Even more so if you wish to go into the music industry you're just taking money from the people who you want to be.

I was gonna post on this, but it appears as though Lawrence has said exactly what I was thinking.

Yeah, its amazing how times have changed. Just a few years ago EVERYONE was using the (old) Napster for downloading and swapping MP3s. Sure, it still happens now, but gee - people feel a lot better about using legal services which (IMHO) are much better.

It is strange. And you know if pirating mp3's doesn't upset you at all, consider your poor computer. With lime wire and even back with the old napster, you didn't always get what you thought. It is much safer buying from Itunes, or even Walmart.com if you don't mind subscribing your soul to that devil.

Haha... yeah - lemme put a plug in for Urge one more time. I'd much rather give my hard earned to MTV than Walmart. And... their subscription service rocks.

Check it out - Urge and my iriver Clix really work well for me.
