... looking to walk into a studio with pre-recorded (as MIDI) piano parts and lay them to audio with a minimum of cost/time.

hi dave. don't know where you will find one. but a word of warning! i read an article in sound on sound magazine by paul.d. lehrman (i think) a few years ago. he was using disklaviers to play back on stage. he discovered that the yamaha pianos introduce massive latency ( i think about 500 ms), and also that if you send them midi velocity 127, they play so hard they can be damaged.

so basically, you might need to reprogram your midi to allow for this.

the article might still be on the website, but i cant immediately see it...

Thanks Ed - actually that wouldn't be a problem because I'd record on the Disklavier, edit on my PC, then take the files to a studio to record.

Good to know the issues though - thanks for the post!
