When I play midi files through my rig: Dell laptop running win98(yeah kinda dated); Cakewalk Guitar Tracks II software; midiman midi interface(using parallel 25 pin printer port); Triton LE; Phonic PA System,

I notice randomly a song will stop playing for a split second then continue playing again. Sometimes it may stop again before the song is done or, play all the way through without stopping again. Why could this be happening???

The easy answer is to say - dunno, probably something to do with running a 10yo operating system.

But that's taking the easy way out. I'm really not sure how to debug this - anyone else got ideas?

Dave.

Thanks Dave. Thank you for responding.

I thought ??? it might be the Midiman Midi interface via the 25pin parallel connection vs. today's USB connections. I do have a USB port on my laptop.

Hi Dave. Been doing some testing on my own. I have McAfee installed on my laptop. I don't connect my laptop to the web. Basically, I have a desktop which is attached to the web where I "audition" midis. If I like them, I put them on a smartcard then transfer them over to my laptop. I disabled McAfee on my laptop and had no intermittent stopping of midis, yet??? Any feedback from you regarding virus software affecting midi files when they are being played???
