How can you tell where a midi file has originated from or if it is copyrighted?

How can you tell where a midi file/track has originated from or if it is copyrighted? I usually work with Cubase if that helps. 

It's probably a simple thing i just don't know how to do it.  please help!!!

Often the first track will have a (c) in it, or details on where it came from. Otherwise, if you're purchasing files from us, you'll find those details in the ZIP file that you download after completing the purchase.
