Hi there,
As stated by the title, I am a complete newcomer to MIDI devices, my usual instrument is a drum kit.
I have recently joined the band MindfooD, and have been trying to write some songs for them. To this end, I have purchased a Yamaha PSR E203, with Steinberg Cubasis VST v.5, running via a MIDi to USB connection into a Dell computer.
The problem I have is that I have no idea how to get the computer program to recognise the keyboard and accept input from it. I have the MIDi out connected on the Yamaha, running into the USB port on the computer, but Cubasis will not respond to the keys.

Any constructive advice (apart from 'stick to the drumming ) will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Roy.

Hi Roy:

It sounds like you haven't set up your keyboard as an "input" instrument in Cubase. I'm not sure of the exact steps in VST - but you should read through the manual on how to set up an instrument in your software.

Cheers, Dave.
