Greetings. While I'm stumbling through one manual or another, it never hurts to ask for an enlightening word or two.

I have a Yamaha keyboard with MIDI ports and just puchased an M-Audio USB MIDI interface device. All the software is installed but I'm still unsure where to go next to use the keyboard on the computer with my audio engine, i.e. Reaper (very cool recording software) I've only had this set up for about two weeks, but I've come quite far in a short time. Before this, I was using an analog 8-track recorder - which I can still employ, but that's off topic. In any case, I'll be fiddling around with it and should figure it out sooner or later BUT any advice to guide me in the right direction will be appreciated. THANKS for reading.

So I bought this small midi controller the other day because it seemed like it would be fun to play around with and learn, but it turns out to be alot harder then it seems like it would be. This is he one I bought: http://www.behringer.com/UMX25/index.cfm?lang=ENG
I was just wondering if anyone can give me a hand with the basic stuff, like exactly what I need to make sounds and or put already made sounds onto it. Its has a usb jack so will the sound come out of my computer speakers once I plug it in and get sounds on it? I know absolutely NOTHING about keyboard controllers so if I can get some info that would be awesome.

I bassically just need to know how to get sounds on it, and what I need to do so.

I am a broke but i want to hook my music keyboard up to my computer but it only has an aux out port and no midi port. Now i was woundering if i could just take a standard 1/8 dual headphone jack chord to hook it up into my mic in port for it to work on my computer, or would i have to find a 1/8 converter to midi usb for my computer? Can somebody help me

if anyone's heard of joachim garraud, a french dj' composer, producer. he has podcast on itunes that you can download for free in his live dj sets sometimes he plays the midi keybaord to play the tune that he's about to quick in. if that makes sense.

i was wondering wear does he get these midi files for the songs cos they sound near enought the same as the song???

this is electro music i'm talking about so the midi files you can buy on this site aren't much help.

SM-57 guitar cab trick

Here's a trick for a good sound on a guitar cab using two SM-57 mics.
Put two Sm-57's side by side with one mic a capsule length ahead of the other one ( front of one mic where the end of the front of the other mic is, that's the band around the mic where it says SM-57 ).
The difference in distance between them will create a comb filter but with good effect and will automatically drop some frequencys that would usually be subtractively eq'd.
The live sound guys at school swore by this method and used it every single time.

new creative product that claims to return mp3s etc to "better than studio quality". some how i dont believe it. what does everyone else think? is it possible? surely datas already gone.

The LA-2A, classic compressor used on tons of vocals over the years, can you afford one ? I sure can't, here's the next best thing and all you need is a parametric eq.
Put the eq after a compressor at 4:1 ratio and 3 db. gain reduction,
then on the eq boost 100 hz. 4 db., 1 khz. 4 db. boost, and 10 khz. 4 db. boost, with a high q on all ( narrow bandwidth ).
This works well on full bodied instruments like vocals, pianos and drums, not recommended for guitar.

Microsoft Vista and Music

So Im beta testing Ms Vista RC1, it cool, the best features are Im not using winamp anymore cause WMP 11 is just tooo sexy. iTunes was NEVER a player I was interested in, the only feature I liked windows stole anyway and that was the ability to share the "My Music" over the network. Its cool beans bro.

New Apple Products on Tuesday?

So this week is photokina in Germany and Apple are set to release some new/update products.

Rumours i've heard so far are:

Updating Macbook/Pro Intel chips; i really hope they do this because it's what i'm waiting for

Aperture; Apple's photo software also looking set for an update.

what does everyone think?
