This may seem like a not very relevant topic on this forum , but I'll try my luck anyways.

I'm writing an assignment on MIDI, and have to explain how it has affected the production, circulation, and consumption of music. Now the first part is easy, but can anyone help me learn about how the advent of MIDI has affected circulation (distribution) of music, if at all?

Any other pointers, advice, thoughts, ideas, references would also be greatly appreciated.
