The Industry standard Pitch bend controller has 16384 increments (+/-8192) and I believe uses registered parameter numbers (RPN) to achieve this. I would like to know how to turn other continuous controllers into a similar high-definition controllers using non-registered parameters (NRPN), such that when I turn a knob for, say, CC#37 for example, it will output numbers from 0 to 16384 as opposed to the usual 0 to 127.

If this cannot be done, is there another way to create such a controller?

Thanks,

Brett

Wow - awesome question Brett. I have no idea - but I'm hoping one of our members will. Anyone?

All controllers have the ability to be fine tuned with the use of LSB controllers. That gives you the 16384 increments for very fine adjustments. Take a look at the chart of controllers on the MMA website.

http://www.midi.org/about-midi/table3.shtml

Notice that controllers 32 through 63 are all LSB, or fine tuning for Controllers 0 through 31 (MSB)

The question now becomes,  Does your particular piece of equipment implement those controllers?

( BTW,  If I have misinterpreted the info on the MMA site, someone please correct me)
